For many years I lived with what seemed like two versions of me—the one I shared with the world and the one that had secret dreams I didn’t think anyone would understand or embrace. I have worked with many people over the years who feel the same.
Who were you before you felt obligated to be someone else?
From as early as I can remember, I could sense the feelings of others. In fact, they would overpower me. As a teenager, I began experiencing spiritual visits from the other side. I quickly realized that not everyone could tune into energy so easily. As a young person, this was confusing and frustrating. It felt necessary to shut down and separate from myself. But this disconnect did not help me…it only made me feel lost and insecure for many years.
When I became a mom, my tolerance for inauthenticity in myself and others fell away (as it often does for women). I realized that I simply couldn’t turn away from myself anymore.
Everything feels a million times more difficult when you don’t like yourself. And you can’t actually like yourself if you don’t embrace all of you.
My journey of coming home to myself involved diving into holistic forms of self-healing—meditation, embracing my psychic gifts, and life coaching. Eventually I became a Certified Integral Life Coach and began guiding others through the overwhelm of personal transition.
